SOUTH ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) - Workers for the Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) have made repairs to a century-old sewer line that collapsed just south of downtown St. Louis last week.
Crews have replaced a 40-foot section of the sewer line, which collapsed on November 16 at the intersection of Chouteau and Broadway.
Officials said a leak in the sewer line caused soil around it to wash away, weakening the line and causing the pavement to sink.
MSD said it will cover the cost of street repairs, since its crews had to dig a large hole to fix the line.
